History
The Department of Foreign Languages, which commenced its educational activities under the Rectorate of Sakarya University, established by Law No. 3837 in the year 1992, forms the foundation of Sakarya University School of Foreign Languages. Since its establishment, the Department of Foreign Languages had been operating in various campuses. However, at the beginning of the 2008-2009 Academic Year, it relocated to the first two floors of the Institute Building, where it continues its educational activities to this day.
On April 25, 2013, by the decision numbered 2013/4459 published in Official Gazette No. 28628, a School of Foreign Languages was formally established within Sakarya University. Nevertheless, the actual educational activities were still conducted by the Department of Foreign Languages under the Rectorate, and this School of Foreign Languages affiliated with Sakarya University transitioned to Sakarya Applied Sciences University, established by the Presidential Decree published in the Official Gazette dated May 18, 2018.
Subsequently, on March 27, 2020, with the Presidential Decree No. 2319 published in Official Gazette No. 31082, a School of Foreign Languages was established at Sakarya University. As a result, the Department of Foreign Languages under the Rectorate was dissolved, and all ongoing educational activities were transferred under the authority and responsibility of the School of Foreign Languages.
