The School of Foreign Languages held its annual Preparatory Program orientation event on Wednesday, September 25th, at the Turgut Özal Conference Center, as is customary before each academic year. The program commenced with a moment of silence and the national anthem, after which the Dean of Students, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Havva Sert, addressed the students. She expressed that they would provide all kinds of support throughout their educational journey and wished them a healthy and successful academic life.
Following her speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Halil İbrahim Balkul, Director of the School of Foreign Languages, took the stage and delivered a speech emphasizing the importance and necessity of learning a foreign language. Balkul highlighted the advantages of effectively using English, both in social life and in the context of career development. Subsequently, Lecturer Halil İbrahim Gündüz, Head of the Department of Foreign Languages, discussed methods and techniques that would enhance the efficiency of language learning. He reminded students that without extracurricular activities, their educational progress would not reach the desired level.
In the final part of the program, compulsory and optional preparatory students, along with their parents, listened to a presentation by Lecturer Umut Kaya, Coordinator of the Preparatory Classes, regarding the updated Preparatory Classes Program. Kaya shared all the details of the new program and concluded by answering students' questions. At the end of the approximately one-and-a-half-hour orientation, students were sent off to take the placement exam, which was scheduled for 2:00 PM in the afternoon.
